Check out the pictures

How could I resist posting pictures showing inherited traits.  Dad and Clayton are just like my fruitflies!

The rose---If you know me, you know that I am very project oriented.  I tend to go along through life with blinders on.  When I am focusing on something, I ignore everything around me.  I compartmentalize everything.  Anyway, this morning, I was focused on doing something with the cars.  Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed my roses. WOW!  They were so pretty.  I never think about the roses in front of my house, unless they need to be focused on with Afid killer, etc.  Since it is Spring break, I am going to try, for one or two days, to stop and smell the roses.  Then I can get back to focusing on my many projects.

It's medically official. . .

I am not in menopause.  I am not even close to starting menopause.  I am still a youngster, capable of fertilization.  Over my dead body.

On a more exciting note. . . aced the most recent physics test, got an A on my last O chem test.  You heard about my disastrous fruit fly results, still trying to explain that one away.

Ah, and most importantly, it is spring break!

Dialysis

I was thinking this morning about how lucky I am to get to go to dialysis 3 times a week.  I am there from 5:00 am until 9:30 am.  I will say that getting up at 4 am is a bit difficult at times, but since I have to get up, those 4 hours are precious to me.  Sometimes I just use a few of the minutes to surf the web or answer a couple of emails.  But most of the time I spend the time studying.  It is perfect.  Paul usually sleeps through dialysis.  The dialysis techs and nurses are usually too busy to interrupt me.  I am not distracted by food or TV.  It is the best.  So on my list of blessings, I am grateful for dialysis because I get 4 solid hours of studying 3 times a week.  Oh, and not only that, I am grateful for dialysis because it keeps Paul living.  That too.

Fruit Flies

As you know, I have been working on an experiment in Biology involving the mating of fruit flies with various genetic traits to track inheritance and linkages.  I was so thrilled with my little babies (by the way, I killed them all off, finishing the last ones today).  I couldn't wait to get down and dirty in the data and prove that I could run an experiment successfully.  Nevermind that my first 3 lab partners dropped the class.  Nevermind that the 4th lab partner I was assigned (after all the work was done) never comes to class, and when she does, she leaves early.  I am highly suspicious of all their numbers.  But what can I do?  That is the only data I have.  I could lie and make numbers up.  I am sooooo tempted.

Here is sit.  I have personally counted and categorized about 600-700 of them.  The other 300 or so were counted by "others."  I have compiled the data and run Chi-squared statistical analysis on it.  The results. . . wait for it. . . I should reject all my hypothesis.  I feel like running down the street crying, screaming, and pulling my hair out.  How could this happen!!!!?? I can see clearly that my mutants are sex-linked, but the numbers aren't strong enough.  This stupid experiment is worth one-half a test.  RRRRGGGGG.

Anyway, I am having dejavu.  I am sitting in the hospital, Paul is unconscious, and I am worrying about a bunch of dumb, stupid, idiotic fruit flies.

Just 10 more mintes

Please. . . .

We get up at 4 am on dialysis days now.  Three times a week, and it is killing me.  I was just reading an article that states when we mess with our circadian rhythm too much we become candidates for hypertension, cancer, and other various bad bad diseases.

Why?  I thought, "early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise."  Now it just means I am going to get sick.  rrrrggg.

On happier notes, pharmacy school is a go!  August 3rd, I don my smock.
