Broken Promises

I promised my sweetheart that I wouldn't get through the 5,000 sheets of paper that we just bought for our printer before the end of the school year. . . next May.

I just finished off my first 1,000.  Oooops.

Good Student

I am a good student.  In fact, I am an excellent student.  But I gotta tell you, this semester might have me beat.  I am working about 24 hours a week now compared to only about 12 hours per week last year.  The readings are much longer too.  I have finished 3 weeks, and all I can think is "Only 15 more weeks."  This mental mind game started on week one.  After the 2nd day of class, I was so exhausted from the incredible amount of material that I fell asleep right after class.  Last semester I used caffeine pills infrequently when I desperately needed a few extra hours of awake time.  This semester so far I have used them about twice a week.  I try to detox between each week so they stay effective.  Holy cow!  There are just not enough hours.  I wish I could catch insomnia so that I would be awake at night due to the inability to sleep, not due to drugs.  I haven't had a Diet cola drink (Pepsi to be exact) since June of 2008.  Amazingly, I stopped drinking it without any problems.  It took about 2 years to get over the craving of that magical drink.  But I did.  Now, just about every afternoon, I have begun to dream about just giving in and buying a 12 pack.  I won't.  Instead I take 2 Excedrin.  Shame on me.   At least it is much cheaper.  Am I slipping?   Am I justified?  Probably the answers are "yes" and "no."  I will keep praying and keep working hard.  I heard next semester is much easier.  How much damage can I really do in the next 13 weeks?
